Say hello to Garrick, one of the newest additions to our team! 💁🏻‍♂️

Half Swiss, half South African, he’s fluent in English and French. 🇨🇭🇿🇦 Back in Switzerland, Garrick competed in both the Brewers Cup and Cup Tasters championships. While he’s not eligible to compete in Denmark just yet—having only moved here two months ago—we can’t wait to see him on stage as soon as the rules allow him to. 🦸‍♂️

A true coffee geek (which we consider essential at Roast!), Garrick is always experimenting with new brews. ☕️ When he’s not serving up your daily coffee, you’ll likely find him perfecting pour overs or testing out new recipes for the team and offering everyone a taste. 👅

New-ish coffee on the shelf - BDI17! 🇧🇮

Grown at high altitudes with sunny days and cool nights, coffee from Butegana washing station has ideal conditions for exceptional flavor. ☀️

Built in 1952, Butegana was Burundi’s first coffee washing station — rich in both history and innovation. Farmers here grow mostly Red Bourbon on small backyard plots, often from trees that are over 50 years old. Harvests are usually in small batches, handpicked, and full of care. 👨‍🌾

Using LALCAFÉ CIMA™️ yeast, the cherries of this coffee are carefully fermented for 12 hours, then dried slowly over 2–3 weeks to bring out clean, fruity notes. This coffee yeast is developed to ensure control over the fermentation process, upgrade the cup quality and also reduce the risk of micro-organisms that can generate defects.

From heritage to harvest — this coffee tells a powerful story and is something you should definitely try. ✨

We are here to introduce two of our newest additions to the coffee shelf - PER6 and RWA14! 🇵🇪🇷🇼

A little sweetness, a hint of fruitiness, and an easy to drink — that’s the perfect way to describe our new coffee from Peru. 🍎 Grown at 2,100 meters ASL in the mountains of Challabamba, Cusco, this coffee from Finca Otocani showcases the careful processing of the Lizaraso family, who’ve been cultivating here for over 50 years. While honoring tradition, the younger generation has renewed old trees and introduced varieties like Geisha and Maragogype alongside Bourbon and Typica, reflecting their passion for quality and innovation. 🌱

Muzo Washing Station, the smallest of Baho Coffee’s four stations, is rooted in Rwanda’s rich coffee tradition. Originally built by Muzo Cooperative—winners of the 2014 Cup of Excellence—the station now thrives through a 10-year partnership with Baho Coffee. Local farmers, with small plots intercropped with food crops, rely on coffee as their main income. 🪴 Muzo supports them with training, loans, seedlings, and much more. During harvest, cherry is hand-sorted, graded, and dried slowly for up to 93 days.

If you haven't already, go ahead and taste them, either as a pour over or an espresso! ☕️

(Not so) new faces behind the bar! 🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏼

We’re sure you’ve already seen these two lovely people around but it’s never too late to properly introduce them, so say hi to Carina and Jakub!

Carina comes from Germany but is certainly no stranger to Denmark, as she’s lived here for some time now. With extensive hospitality experience, she brings professionalism behind the bar, along with plenty of laughs and good vibes! ☺️ Always eager to learn, this year she even competed in the Cup Tasters competition for the first time and made it to the semifinals! When she’s not behind the bar serving coffee with the biggest smile, she’s either creating folk tunes (she just released her first album, Honey—be sure to check it out 😉) or outside with her adorable dog, Heidi. And a fun fact: if she looks familiar, it’s because she’s Julia’s sister! 👯‍♀️

Jakub is another addition to the team from the Czech Republic! 🇨🇿 One of his biggest passions is traveling, and that’s also how his coffee journey began. In 2022, he wanted to explore Argentina and started working in a small coffee shop there. While traveling, he always loves to try local food, so don’t hesitate to recommend him your favorite smørrebrød or the best place for BMO here in Copenhagen. And if he’s not behind our bar, you’ll find him enjoying his go-to combo of espresso and filter coffee at another coffee shop. ☕️

🤓TUESDAY TRAININGS🤓

Every Tuesday after work, our baristas come together for our weekly team training – hosted by no one else than the best coffee trainer on this planet: Joe Dennis

As with any other discipline, coffee comes with a whole world of background knowledge, practicing and understanding. That’s why we gather once a week to keep ourselves aligned, calibrated, and educated as much as we can!

Every training session has a slightly different theme and focuses on building knowledge that we use in our daily work with coffee. Some examples are aroma detection, building vocabulary to describe the flavour, body or mouthfeel of a coffee, detecting the differences between coffee varietals or processing methods, blind tastings and much more.

We also prepare ourselves for upcoming championships, such as the Cup Tasters Competition that most of us will compete in again at the Danish Coffee Festival!
